The teachers’ employer has made some changes in its field directors across the country with several transferred to new stations while others have been moved on promotion.
Education News has learnt that the Makueni County Director, Alex Cheruiyot, a man known in many circles as a thorough professional, has been promoted to Regional Director and posted to North Eastern. He will replace Aden Ibrahim who retired from service early this year. The long serving Ibrahim is well regarded in the education industry for his ability to win trust among communities he has worked with.
In Makueni, Cheruiyot will be replaced by Grace Mwangi who has been the Kericho County Director. It is understood that Milton Oyugi who has been serving as the Nairobi County Deputy Director will proceed to Kericho to replace Ms. Mwangi.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) made a complete clean-up in its leadership in Kericho County with Mwangi’s deputy, Isaac Barasa Batoya being also transferred and will now report at the Commission headquarters for new duties.
Also transferred is Isaiah Sauroki who has been the Sub-County Director (SCD) for Khwisero and his new station is Bomet East. He will be swapping places with Emmanuel Otieno who goes to the opposite direction to take charge in Khwisero in Kakamega County.
Others changes include the Kuresoi South SCD, Albert Ngare who has been moved to Mbeere Sub-County in Embu, his replacement in Kuresoi was not immediately established. Catherine Wachira who has been the Nakuru West SCD has been transferred to the TSC headquarters for new assignments. Her replacement in Nakuru was yet to be named.
Also moving to a new station is Pamela Matoke who has been the Mumias West SCD. She will be moving to a Sub-County in Kitui County. Her immediate station there was not immediately clear. Education News has further learnt that Joshua Ngaruiya who has been a Sub-County Director at the TSC headquarters has penned his resignation and took an early retirement to pursue other interests.
About six months ago, TSC conducted a major shake-up of its field staff in which several County Directors, deputies and SCDs were either promoted or transferred to new stations. These changes were largely occasioned by retirement of previous office holders, replacement of those promoted to new positions or transfers.
