TSC invites applicants for 24,000 teacher internship vacancies

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 34,000 internship vacancies for Junior School teachers countrywide, intended to boost the implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE).

In a notice posted on its official Facebook page on August 12, 2025, TSC stated: “The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 34,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum.”

The internship will run for 12 months, during which interns will gain practical classroom experience under the mentorship of seasoned educators.

According to TSC, “The Teacher Internship Programme is a one (1) year programme aimed to equip and sustain competencies of persons entering the teaching service.”

Applicants must meet specific qualifications, such as Kenyan citizenship, holding at least a diploma in education with a mean grade of C+ (plus), and being registered with TSC.

As the commission clarified, “The recruitment exercise is free of charge.

The monthly stipend for interns will be KSh 20,000, subject to statutory deductions and other applicable taxes.

TSC added, “Interns attached to Junior Schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of KSh. 20,000.

The stipend will be paid subject to statutory deductions where applicable.”

Applications will be accepted online via the TSC recruitment portal, starting Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and closing Monday, September 9, 2025.

TSC has asked candidates to adhere to these dates, noting: “Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Commission’s website… not later than Midnight of 9th September, 2025.”

The recruitment drive is part of TSC’s strategy to enhance teacher capacity in junior schools and ensure a smooth transition in CBC delivery nationwide.
