Teachers’ shocker as August salaries slashed in strange deductions

Early payment of August salaries by Teachers Service Commission, TSC has been met by murmurs than expected joy after many teachers who have so far received their salaries detected a reduction in their pay.

This has prompted the tutors to raise alarm over the irregularity, calling upon the employer to release August pay slips for them to understand the deductions.

Education News has established that tutors begun receiving their August pay as early as yesterday, August 19. However, complains have so far been reported by those who received their monthly pay from Equity and KCB banks.

“I have tried to check my salary and shockingly, I miss almost five thousand shillings,” lamented Cathey, a teacher from Nairobi.

The same varying deductions were reported in Absa and Cooperative banks. The affected teachers are either suspecting double deductions in salary advance or infiltration by Higher Education Loans Board, (HELB) into their pay slips.

However, reports revealed that majority of the complainants are the newly employed and junior school teachers. By the time of press, many Saccos had not paid their members. The Swal deductions on KUPPET members was also reported to have been stopped after a huge cry last month.
