Pain, grief and disbelief engulfed Kilungu sub-county, Makueni County after a teacher and a student committed suicide.
According to the police report, 38-year old Muema Kitema who was a teacher at Muthethe Primary School hanged himself on a cypress tree. The reason behind his suicide remained unknown since the deceased did not leave any note. However, Musalala Assistant Chief Cecilia Waithera suspects domestic issues to be the course.
On the other hand, a 16-year old Form One student at Mwaani Girls High School hanged herself on the roof of a cattle shed. The minor is alleged to have taken drastic action after a heated quarrel with her mother who was demanding to know the person who bought her the mobile phone she was using.
The two bodies have been taken to Kilungu Level 4 mortuary pending an autopsy.
