11,891 learners in 315 Early Childhood Development Centres in Taita Taveta County will receive school feeding programmes to bolter enrolment and provide nutritional support to the targeted pupils.
The school feeding programme which is also intended to cushion learners from poor families from the over ravaging effects of Covid -19 ,will be carried out in Mwatate, Voi, Taveta, and Wundanyi sub counties.
Speaking to Education News on phone after the launch of the school feeding programme in Mwatate , Paul Waweru, the chair of Education Committee in the county assembly said the Shs 12.57 million feeding programme was timely and bound to run for the entire financial year.
Waweru thanked, Governor Granston Samboja for implementing salary hikes for ECDE teachers to motivate them towards working harder.
Taita Taveta County Executive Committee Member for education Dephence Manga hailed the school feeding program.
She pointed out that the correlation between good nutrition and good education performance was evident in the bright faces of the children.
