Many students from Lamu County have failed to report to school due lack of fees. Others have completely dropped out.
This was revealed by the County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo during the launch of ‘Operation Rudisha Mtoto Shule’ at the Huduma Centre recently.
Kitiyo said only 48 per cent of those to join Form One have reported. The rest are at home.
He said officers are going house to house in search of truant children and sending them to school. Parents will be arrested for keeping children at home.
