Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has decried the high rate of Female Genital Mutilation in the area.
He attributed the vice to laxity by the chiefs, their assistants and other village social community workers.
The administrator said still there were some hard headed practitioners who colluded with ignorant parents and carried the practice on the innocent school girls.
He said that statics in his office showed that the practice had risen to 96 per cent adding that if the practice went on unchecked it would lead to untold havoc to the victims and their education.
