Nyamira South Deputy Country Commissioner Florence Onunga has asked chiefs to make sure all pubs in the villages are closed during this National examinations period for proper management and running of the exercise.
The Commissioner reprimanded Chiefs and their Assistants for allowing Kiosk owners to operate unlicensed selling of wines and spirits in the village and luring school children into using the intoxicants.
“How can a person open a wines and spirits in their house as you watch this without taking any legal step?” She asked.
The administrator, who was addressing the public during the 62nd Mashujaa Day in the County, said the law allows civilians to arrest any suspected law breakers and hand them to police, further asking the residents of Nyamira to be their brothers keepers.
Onunga sent a stern warning to those who plan to disrupt the examination process, saying that through the examination, the education mould generation.

The headteacher of Olympic Schools Wilter Oseko said that teachers had given pupils enough assignment to keep them during the holiday and asked parents to make a follow up and supervise the exercise for their academic progress.
“Children are our treasure where we can invest through quality education and I ask parents to give priority to their children’s study,” She said.
The educator discouraged parents from using their children to run errands unguarded to their relatives as it exposed them possible risks like child kidnapping and labour
She asked parents to use the long holiday to bond with their children for family cohesion
