Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang has ordered learning institutions administrators to implement the two-thirds gender rule.
In a letter addressed to all Regional, County and Sub County Directors of Education, the PS indicated that the government is committed in realizing gender equality in public service.
He said field officers, heads of schools and colleges under the state department of basic education should take leadership in eliminating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
The PS directed all education institutions, schools, colleges and other state agencies to uphold the progressive implementation of the two thirds gender principle as enshrined in the constitution; in recruitments and promotions within all ranks of the public service.
All field officers, school boards of management, colleges and other state agencies are also required to ensure their budgets and activities are gender responsive.
