Three individuals, including a standard eight student from Sioyi Primary School in Kimilili have killed by angry mob in Kamukunywa market, Bungoma County.

According to local residents, the alleged robbers left three men seriously injured and also raped assaulted a woman.

Reportedly, the injured men are currently receiving medical attention at a medical facility in Kimilili.

A resident Pauline Wafula revealed that the student involved in the heinous act was a known figure in the area.

She said that the young student found himself on a troubling path, diverting from his educational pursuits.

Another resident Bernard Wanjala also decried the escalating insecurity incidents that have been plaguing their lives.

“We are tired of reporting insecurity incidents to the police station every day without receiving any action from the relevant authorities, and that is why we decided to take the law into our hands,” he lamented.

Wanjala also highlighted that the deputy county commissioner, OCS, and chief are women.

He suggested that this gender imbalance might be emboldening the criminal gang.

The village elder Emmanuel Wasike, confirmed the gruesome loss of three lives at the hands of the angry mob.

Additionally, he implored the Bungoma County Commissioner Thomas Sankei, County Police Commander Francis Kooli, and all relevant authorities to dispatch additional security personnel to the area in order to combat the recurring insecurity incidents.

Wasike assured the affected families that the matter was being taken up by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers, who are diligently investigating the case.

The pressing issue of insecurity has also captured the attention of area MP Didmus Barasa, who has scheduled a meeting to address the concerns of the community.
