St. Joseph’s Girls Senior School Kitale, popularly known as JOGA, has once again reaffirmed its position as one of Kenya’s most successful sporting institutions after qualifying an impressive eight teams and disciplines for the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games set to be held in Morogoro, Tanzania.
The Trans Nzoia-based national school heads into the regional championships carrying Kenya’s hopes after another remarkable performance at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Games.
The institution will be represented in hockey, handball, rugby 15s, girls’ football, lacrosse, basketball and cricket, in addition to sending one athlete to compete at the East African championships.
JOGA’s outstanding achievements at the national games underline its dominance across various sporting disciplines.
The school clinched national titles in girls’ football, basketball and lacrosse, while its celebrated hockey team once again proved why it remains among the best in the region after emerging Kenya national champions and defending FEASSSA champions.
The school’s handball and rugby 15s teams also enjoyed excellent campaigns, each finishing as national silver medallists, while the cricket team secured a commendable bronze medal to complete yet another successful sporting season.
Leadership and investment in talent
The consistent success of St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale has largely been attributed to the visionary leadership of Chief Principal Dr. Rosebella Munzala, whose commitment to nurturing talent has transformed the school into a powerhouse in both academics and co-curricular activities.
Under her stewardship, the institution has embraced sports as an integral part of education by investing in talent identification, quality coaching, modern training facilities and discipline.
Dr. Munzala has consistently encouraged learners to pursue excellence beyond the classroom, creating an environment where academic achievement and sporting success complement each other.
Her leadership has seen the school produce national champions, East African champions and student-athletes who have earned scholarships and represented Kenya at international competitions.

As the FEASSSA Games are expected to start in mid-August in Morogoro, Tanzania, St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale will not only be chasing more regional titles but will also be carrying Kenya’s expectations of maintaining its dominance in East African school sports.
