School heads urged to accommodate learners

By Tony Wafula

As the schools resume face-to-face learning today 10-months after closure as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, school heads have been urged to accommodate learners no matter dire the situation is.

Speaking to Education News, Bishop Ignatius Wanjala of Revival Living Prophetic Ministries expressed his worries on the financial status of the parents saying that their financial impotence shall negatively affect operations in the learning institutions.

He, however, decried the wanting preparation in the learning institutions.

“I am worried about the state of our schools, hence both County and the National government should cooperate with teachers to ensure the safety of school-going children,’’ he said.

He asked the government to ensure that every school is connected with clean water, hand sanitizers and provide face masks.

Bishop Wanjala also called on school heads to work hand in hand with parents to recover the lost time.

“Learners have lost the content that they had learned before the emergence of the Covid-19 therefore, teachers should take time to prepare learners,’’ he said.

He, however, asked the Ministry of Education to speed up the disbursement of school funds to aid in the operation.
