A family in Migori is in relief after their five school children were rescued by the police after being kidnapped.

According to them, the children were playing near their compound when a stranger lured them with sweets to follow him.

With the children baited, the kidnapper and his fellow criminals disappeared with them.

After realising their disappearance, their parents immediately reported the matter to Migori Police Station where the police launched a man hunt.

After three days, their pursuit led them to Kopanga village at the Kenya – Tanzania border where they found the children following a tip.

According to Migori County OCPD Mr. Mark Wanjala, the children were found hidden in a woman’s house who fled immediately she got wind of the arrival of police officers.

“My officers rescued the children and brought them back to our station for reunion with their parents and further investigations,” he said.

The police boss confirmed that three people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

“One of the suspects is the son of the suspected woman who tried to dodge my officers during the raid,” confirmed the Commander.

He said that the suspects were assisting the police with further investigations before being arraigned in court.

Mr. Wanjala cautioned parents against leaving their children unguarded to curb the rising cases of child kidnappings.
