The Principal Secretary in the State Department for Social Protection Nelson Marwa has urged the youth to maintain peace during and after the August 9th general elections.
Speaking today at Isebania border after a consultative meeting with the Abagusi community living in Kuria region of Migori County, Marwa urged the youth to shun violent acts during this electioneering period.

He added that the governments’ major interest is to see the nation experience a peaceful season of elections.
“We need to see the youth get empowered and become self-employed. We also want them to create job opportunities for those who have acquired the necessary buses,” said Marwa.
He observed that women, youth and children are the most affected in case of any cases of violence and warned politicians against inciting the youth to cause violence during the electioneering period.
He noted that adequate security has been beefed up in the region to deal with any insecurity or violence which may occur during the electioneering period.
