Parents in Siaya County have been asked to keep a close eye on their daughters during this period that learners are idle at home to minimize cases of school dropouts as the government contemplates on reopening by January.
According to one of the professionals from Bondo Sub-County Mr. Saul David Odenyo, the girls need a lot of care and protection during this period to prevent them from indulging in immoral engagements that might ruin their future.
Mr. Odenyo said that the holiday is quite long but parents need to find a way of encouraging their children to engage on meaningful activities bearing in mind that it would be very shameful for girls to drop out of school because of early and unplanned pregnancies.
“Children should be guided into serious engagements such as proper studies and even farm work to prevent them from negative pear influence,” said Mr. Odenyo who is also a member of Yimbo East Ward Covid-19 committee.
While making his remarks in Usigu division, he called on the members of the public to take advantage of the current rains to embark on serious farm work, saying that they can also use the rains to plant more trees.
