A teacher at Nyajanja Mixed Secondary School in Rangwe, Homa Bay County is on the run after he allegedly defiled six students.
The teacher, who is currently being sought by the Police, went into hiding after pupils threatened to go on a rampage accusing him of sexual assault.
The matter came into light after a few teaching staff got wind of the cases and reported to the local administration who invited Police officers on February 12 where the victims narrated their ordeal.
It was reported that the teacher would send them saucy messages via phone to lure them before defiling them in one of the school’s pit latrines.
With one girl being pregnant at the moment, preliminary investigations revealed that the teacher, who was a Board employee, has been defiling the minors for quite a long time.
All the girls with testimonials of defilement were taken to hospital for medical examination.
Rangwe Member of Parliament (MP) Lilian Gogo, who accompanied Deputy County Commissioner Alfet Jillo and Sub-County Education Director Robert Nyaberi, called on all girls to report such cases promptly.
She called on people from the region to protect teenage girls from Gender Based Violence (GBV), spread of HIV/AIDS and early pregnancies.
