Parents in Taita Taveta county have been urged to enroll their children who didn’t complete their primary and secondary courses in literacy centres so that they continue with their education.

Speaking to Education News from Wundanyi town, Taita Taveta county director of Adult education, Ms. Christine Nzige said that enrolling the youth in the literacy centres would eradicate illiteracy hence raise education levels in the county.

Nzige cited lack of school fees, early marriages and pregnancies as some of the reasons the youths dropped out of schools.

She stated that the county needs educated people who will plan, design and implement community development projects in the county.

She added that 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) for adult learners who will sit for the national examinations as private candidates in the region is ongoing.
