Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu has narrated how he escaped death by a whisker after his vehicle lost control and rolled three times.

Speaking to Education News after being discharged from Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu, Oyuu said that he survived the accident by God’s grace.

Oyuu said that he was heading to Kisumu International Airport to book a flight back to Nairobi from his Rarieda home when a motorcycle carrying four schoolchildren suddenly appeared.

His drive attempted to avoid hitting the passengers forcing the vehicle to swerve, lose control and roll over three times.

He said that there could have been deaths if his driver did not swerve the vehicle.

Oyuu assured KNUT members that he was doing well and was out of danger after undergoing several tests.

The accident, which occurred a few metres from Kombewa Trading Centre in Kisumu County, left Oyuu unhurt.

His vehicle was however extensively damaged.
