The Nyeri National Polytechnic has launched a motorcycle Product Training Centre in partnership with Car & General and TVS Motor Company, in a move aimed at strengthening industry-driven training.
The facility, unveiled at the institution, is designed to give Automotive Engineering Technology trainees practical exposure to motorcycle assembly, servicing, maintenance and fault diagnosis. It seeks to equip them with skills that match the demands of the automotive industry.
The launch was accompanied by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Car & General Manager George Rubiri and the institution's Chief Principal. The agreement formalises the partnership and sets the stage for closer collaboration between the two parties.

It will also serve the wider community by offering professional motorcycle servicing and access to genuine spare parts, extending the benefits of the partnership beyond the classroom.
The initiative supports the government's Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) agenda, which seeks to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and practical workplace requirements by strengthening collaboration between training institutions and industry players.
The State Department for TVET has welcomed the partnership, noting that such collaborations are essential in producing graduates with relevant technical competencies while responding to changing technology and labour market needs.
The partnership is expected to strengthen innovation, employability and entrepreneurship, and to position the Nyeri National Polytechnic as a key player in delivering industry-responsive technical training.
