A Junior School teacher at Kamenon Junior Secondary School in Kapkangani Zone, Nandi Central Sub-County, has died after a sudden illness, plunging the teaching fraternity in Nandi County into mourning.
Sheil Lagat died on Thursday at around 4 pm at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital, where he had been rushed for medical attention after developing stomach pains earlier in the morning.
His sudden demise has left family members, colleagues and friends devastated, with tributes pouring in for a teacher remembered for his dedication to work, passion for sports and warm friendship.
Beyond the classroom, Lagat was a sports enthusiast and a handball referee who earned admiration among fellow sports lovers. He was described as a hardworking educator and a maestro whose contribution to the teaching and sporting fraternity will be greatly missed.
The teacher hailed from Chepkakwen village in Terik Ward, Aldai Constituency, in the Nandi South area.
His death has also raised concerns over the fragility of life, coming as a shock to those who knew him and worked alongside him.
Lagat leaves behind a young family, including his wife and their young child, who must now cope with the painful loss of their husband and father.
His passing is a major blow to the education fraternity, particularly teachers and colleagues who shared his passion for teaching and sports.
