The Murang'a County Government will launch a new amenity facility at the Murang'a County Referral Hospital grounds on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 2 pm. The facility is meant to serve teachers and other patients seeking specialised healthcare.
The launch follows a partnership agreed in April 2026 between the county administration, led by Governor Dr Irungu Kang'ata, and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Murang'a branch. After discussions started by the union leadership, the county agreed to make an amenity wing for teachers and other patients operational.
The facility aims to reduce long waiting times in public health facilities and offer more personalised medical attention. In correspondence, County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr Newton I. KUPPET Murang'a Executive Secretary Thomas Kimani Waweru called the project a major achievement for teachers in the region. In a communication to union members, he thanked the Governor and the Department of Health for making the plan a reality.
Teacher representatives have urged the county government to keep investing in projects that respond to residents' socio-economic needs.
