Kiambu National Polytechnic has a new chief principal after outgoing CPA Sammy K. Waititu formally handed over the office to Ms Lucy Mukiri Anampiu, HSC, following more than six years at the helm of the institution.
The handover ceremony brought together senior government officials, education administrators, and members of the institution's governing council and management. Among those present were TVET Secretary Maryane, Director of Human Resources Dr Mosiori, Director of Quality Training Dr Guantai, Ministry officials and the Governing Council chairperson.

The institution's management credits Waititu with contributing to progress in academic performance, infrastructure development and overall institutional growth during his tenure.

In an appreciation message issued after the ceremony, Deputy Principal in charge of Planning, Administration and Finance Isaac N. Mokaya praised the outgoing chief principal's dedication and service. He said the institution was grateful for Waititu's commitment, particularly his role in strengthening academic performance, expanding infrastructure and advancing the polytechnic's development.

Mokaya wished Waititu a peaceful and fulfilling transition as he prepares for retirement, and called on members of the management team to recognise his contribution. He congratulated Anampiu on taking up the role and expressed confidence in the incoming leadership as the polytechnic enters its next phase.

The management also announced plans to hold a formal farewell ceremony in consultation with Anampiu and the Governing Council, giving staff and the wider institutional community a chance to bid Waititu farewell in person.

Anampiu takes over at a time when TVET institutions are expected to equip learners with practical, industry-relevant skills that respond to the needs of employers, entrepreneurs and the wider economy. The sector has become central to Kenya's efforts to address youth unemployment, expand technical skills and strengthen the link between education and the labour market.
As chief principal, she will provide strategic leadership, oversee institutional administration and support the delivery of quality training. The immediate task for the polytechnic will be to sustain the progress made under Waititu while positioning the institution to meet the expectations of students, employers and the TVET sector.
