Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has pledged an additional Sh40 million to complete the construction of Karura Ka Nyungu Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Kabete Constituency, Kiambu County.
Kindiki, who inspected the ongoing project on Wednesday, said the government had already released Sh30 million, with the additional funds expected shortly to accelerate completion of the institution. The funding will support efforts to establish the institute, which is expected to expand access to technical and vocational education for young people in Kabete and equip them with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
"All Kenyans deserve development without any discrimination," Kindiki said, reaffirming the government's commitment to equitable development across the country.
The project will include classrooms, workshops and administrative offices to support training and institutional operations. Separately, a student accommodation hostel with a capacity of 340 beds will be constructed for Sh170 million to provide accommodation for learners attending the institution.(Education News Kenya — https://educationnews.co.ke/news/kindiki-pledges-sh40-million-to-complete-karura-ka-nyungu-tti)
Kindiki said expanding technical training infrastructure was crucial to Kenya's industrialisation ambitions and its pursuit of a first-world economy.
Kindiki also defended the government's development record, saying the administration would present its achievements to Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election, and emphasised the need for cooperation between the national government and elected leaders in advancing development projects.
The Deputy President was accompanied by Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Kabete MP Githua Wamacukuru, Thika Town MP Alice Ng'ang'a, Kiambaa MP Njuguna Kawanjiku, Members of County Assembly, government officials, professionals and grassroots leaders.
The institute is expected to increase training opportunities for young people in the constituency, supporting skills development and the country's broader economic transformation agenda.
