A total of 28,353 candidates are registered to sit the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in 253 centres across Trans Nzoia County.
The candidates comprise 14,757 girls and 13,596 boys.
Of the total, 27,398 candidates are drawn from public schools, while another 955 are registered in private examination centres, according to Ministry of Education data.
Examination centres urged to observe guidelines
County Director of Education Pamela Akello had earlier urged examination centre managers to observe all examination guidelines and ensure that candidates' details correspond with the examination materials supplied to their respective centres.
She said education officials had inspected examination centres and deployed representatives to provide technical assistance and monitor compliance with established procedures.
Akello also cautioned that adverse weather conditions could disrupt the movement of examination materials, particularly in areas served by poor road networks.
The KCSE examinations entered another week on Monday, with candidates scheduled to sit English and Chemistry papers in the afternoon.
