The new Kisii County Governor Paul Simba Arati has proclaimed that his government will launch a feeding programme to boost enrolment and retention of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners.
The Governor was speaking during his maiden speech after his swearing-in ceremony at Gusii stadium on 25th August, 2022.
“My government shall start developing the education sector with the introduction of a school feeding programme in our nursery schools,” he said.

Mr Arati further decried the wanting state of classrooms and some dispensaries in the county and attributed them to wanton graft from corrupt officials in the outgoing regime.
He then congratulated out-going Governor Mr Ongwae for employing ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms and promised to employ more teachers.
Mr Ongwae, who was flanked by his wife and out-going Deputy Governor Dr Richard Monda, promised to be available for consultation when need arises.
The ceremony was presided over by Justice Teresah Matheka and Advocate Beatrice Abuya.
