Kirinyaga Central Constituency Member of Parliament John Wambugu has set aside over Sh20 million bursaries for the students that will help the constituency to attain 100 per cent transition to form one.

The MP assured parents and the students that the funds under National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) are ready and they should apply for the bursaries.

“All children will get bursaries, especially those joining form one from this month and I want to urge the parents to encourage their children to apply for the funds. The parent should always ensure they provide all documents for the processing, especially those joining form one this year,” he said.

He was speaking at a Church function in Kutus, Kirinyaga where he urged parents to take advantage of the available funds to educate their children.

“The government’s 100 per cent transition is possible and parents should submit applications for the bursaries as early as possible to ensure they do not experience financial challenges,” he added.

He said education like other projects is important and they will fully fund it.

In addition, the bursaries will cushion parents who have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic to clear their children’s fees.

“Covid-19 has made life unbearable and many parents are unable to afford school fees. We have intervened in ensuring that the students acquire education,” Wambugu said.
