Baringo Central Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Joshua Kandie has officially launched a Ksh50 million bursary fund to benefit students from humble backgrounds.
The MP said the fund will enable learners to stay in school as it will benefit both secondary school and college students.
Speaking during the function held at Kabarnet Museums, the legislator said the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) is committed to uplifting education standards in the area.
He said his agenda to boost education was made possible through strategic partnerships that go even beyond the Kenyan borders.
“We have already signed agreements with Baringo County Government and our German friends where students will get scholarships in Germany. I challenge youth to embrace the initiative for it is an opportunity that will give youth adequate skills and lifetime expertise,” said the MP.
Kandie said Germany’s long standing history of partnership with Baringo Central has seen technical institutions in the area like Baringo Technical College reap huge benefits.
Tenges Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Henry Kigen urged the MP to play a key role in seeking employment opportunities for the youth.
