The newly elected Malava MP, David Ndakwa, has promised to prioritise education in the constituency. Ndakwa said, as his predecessor, the late Malulu Injendi, did, that he would give education the attention it deserves.

The leader who was speaking at Shitirira Primary school, where, together with Presidential aide Farouk Kibet, he led a fund drive to construct a dining hall, said an educated society was a burden not only to the constituency but also to the country.

He said that he will be meeting the Malava advisory committee starting in January 2026 to discuss the way forward on education matters in the constituency.

“We want to improve education standards in Malava, and we are planning to have a master plan that will arrange the constituency’s education calendar to allow the smooth running of the programmes in place, and already we have begun distributing bursary forms for applicants in both secondary, tertiary and universities across the constituency,” said Ndakwa.

He urged the parents to make good use of the bursaries by applying on time before the closing date to be eligible to receive the funds.

Ndakwa also said some of the bursary will be used to develop school infrastructure, which will, in turn, improve results.

He lauded the recent visit by the NGCDF board from the headquarters to inspect the ongoing Malava NGCDF projects, with one of their own, funded at a tune of Ksh 8 million, at Luhokho primary school in South Kabras ward.

The MP said education was to be supported at all costs, and Malava has benefited more from the bursary allocation of almost 200Million each financial year.

The Presidential aide, Farouk Kibet, who was the chief guest at the occasion at Shitirira Primary, where he donated Ksh 1 million towards the renovation of the dining hall, said the government will continue to support education projects in Malava as per its promise made during the death of their MP.

He asked the parents to change their attitude towards education and fully embrace the initiative.

Kibet, who is on record for assisting several schools within the constituency during the by-election campaigns, pointed out that it was important for education matters to be fully projected in Malava.

At the same time, he applauded the school for its continued good results.

He pledged to celebrate teachers and pupils on January 10, 2026, when learning resumes effectively, as one way to motivate teachers for their good work and commitment.

“The government is investing heavily in education, even though it has increased its budget allocation towards education because it understands its importance to the country as a whole,” he noted.
