Kapenguria Member of Parliament, MP Moroto Samuel has asked the security agencies to move with speed to investigate the alleged issue of cannibals preying on vulnerable school children in West Pokot County.
He added that they must delve into the matter and find out the motive behind this unfortunate incident.
Speaking during the burial of former Kapenguria, Member of Parliament, the late William Sindano at Paraywa, Moroto stated that the matter has gone wide to the extent of tarnishing the name and image of the Pokot people.
“Imagine our name in Parliament has been completely tarnished as some legislators make fun of us by asking our fellow colleagues to be wary of us,” he said
At the same time teachers in West Pokot have taken an initiative of sensitizing learners aggressively on how they can avoid cannibals.

According to one of the deputy principals Cherry Ekwata, learners should avoid eating any food from strangers and even in other instances people well known to them.
Another important step that she has asked learners to follow is moving to and from school in groups.
She has also advised learners to avoid asking for lifts because it would be hard to understand the motive of the owner of the car.
“In case you happen to be cornered, learn to scream to your highest possible voice since through it, you could be rescued,” she said.”
She has asked learners not to tolerate strangers, “You should only put your trust in your parent.”
