Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir will today, June 16, launch the 2025 cycle of the “No Child Left Behind” Bursary Programme at Changamwe Secondary School.
This eagerly anticipated event will reinstate a critical education lifeline for thousands of families in Mombasa, following a nationwide halt on bursaries by the National Government earlier this year.
In a recent social media post, Governor Nassir underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring every child in the county has access to education, regardless of their socio-economic background.
“The No Child Left Behind bursary program is back! We are committed to ensuring that every child in Mombasa —regardless of background— has the opportunity to complete their education. Through this bursary, we’re opening doors for thousands of learners to stay in school and build a better future,” he declared. “No child should ever be left behind because of poverty. Not in our county.”

The 2025 cycle of the “No Child Left Behind” program is projected to benefit nearly 40,000 students in both public and private day secondary schools across Mombasa. Each beneficiary will receive KSh 5,000, with funds slated to be sent directly to their respective schools to ensure transparency and efficiency.
The “No Child Left Behind” initiative has been a cornerstone of the Governor’s educational agenda since he took office in 2022, consistently prioritizing support for needy students.
