Ministry seeks recently absorbed P1 teachers for teaching practice

The Ministry of Education has, through a Circular, instructed all the Principals of Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) to collect  data on P1 teachers who had enrolled for the upgrade programme but got absorbed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in the just concluded recruitment.

It is feared that the teachers might have been posted to stations that are not selected as practicum schools, thus the Ministry wants the data for logistical planning of their practicum assessment.

The Circular signed by the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Early Learning and Basic Education Dr. Julius Jwan dated October 24, 2022 wants the data to identify the number of teachers who were absorbed but had not undertaken teaching practice which is the final stage in the upgrade programme.

“In this regard  you are requested to submit  your comprehensive  and final  test of all teachers  for the upgrade  to DPTE who were employed  by the TSC using the attached template,” reads the memo in part.

The teachers, from the pioneer group of the P1 teacher upgrade programme to the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), are required to undertake their practicum which is the fourth and final examination.

All the teachers who successfully were recruited by the Commission on permanent and pension terms have already received their appointment and posting letters to their respective schools.
