Maseno School’s Chief Principal, Peter Owino, has stepped in to motivate and inspire the school’s handball team by sponsoring them on a fully funded trip to Mombasa to watch the National Term One Games at Shanzu Teachers Training College (TTC) from April 4.
The sponsorship comes after the team’s impressive performance at the regional championships held at Rapogi Boys.
They fought hard but narrowly lost to Manyatta School in the finals (15-16), missing a chance to compete at the national level.
Despite the setback, the team has shown remarkable progress over time, and Owino’s gesture aims to keep their morale high.
By allowing the players to witness top-tier competition, he hopes to equip them with valuable experience and inspire them to push harder in future tournaments.
Confirming to Education News, Owino emphasized the power of unity and teamwork in achieving success.

The initiative reflects the school’s commitment to sports development, showing that performance is measured by wins and growth, resilience, and exposure to higher levels of competition.
“Coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together leads to success,” he said. “I believe in the strength of the team as a unit and in the strength of each individual player.”
Maseno School’s handball team is steadily rising as a formidable force, and with such administrative support, the future looks promising. The students are expected to return from the trip with renewed motivation and a greater understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest level.
