Lurambi MP urges parents to ignore bursary propaganda, unveils historic first Sh13 million for Butsotso Central

Lurambi MP Titus Khamala has urged parents to keep off propaganda surrounding bursary allocation, saying bursaries were issued last year on a large scale.

The MP also announced that Butsotso Central Ward will, for the first time in history, receive Sh13 million, noting that the constituency had previously been represented by several MPs who lacked a visible development track record.

Khamala made the remarks during the official handover of a storey tuition block hosting eight classrooms at Mukangu Primary School yesterday.

The event was attended by members of the NG-CDF Board, who inspected various school projects in Lurambi, Mumias and Ikolomani.

He added that while the county government issues Sh3 million per ward, St Patrick’s Ikonyero Senior School alone received more than Sh2.3 million last year.

“One school was issued the highest amount depending on what the county allocates for a whole ward,” Bishop Khamala emphasised.

He disclosed that the NG-CDF Lurambi Constituency office is currently compiling lists and reviewing data before releasing the names to the public for verification, noting that bursaries are only issued once in a financial year.

“When we reach June 30 and enter July 1, if bursaries have not been issued, then it will be time for citizens to question the whereabouts of bursaries in the last financial year,” Khamala reiterated, adding that they are still working within the required timelines.

He encouraged parents to remain calm, express confidence in his leadership and give him time to continue transforming the constituency.

Khamala also promised to return to Eshisiru Senior School for the issuance of bursaries and the handover of a modern tuition block.

Members of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Board, led by Musa Sirma, lauded Khamala for the construction of the Mukangu Primary School tuition block, alongside other modern classrooms constructed separately within the constituency.

CDF Board members echoed the sentiments of the chairperson, saying their mandate is to oversee projects and ensure learners have a conducive learning environment.

After touring 290 constituencies across the country, the CDF team rated Lurambi among the top-performing constituencies and pledged support for Khamala’s re-election bid for a third term.
