The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bomet Branch has dismissed political distractions and reaffirmed its commitment to addressing teachers’ welfare concerns, branch Executive Secretary Paul Kimeto has said.

In a statement to members, Kimeto emphasized that the union’s priority remains service delivery, noting that there are currently no unresolved welfare cases apart from the ongoing settlement of the Token of Retirement Award.

He revealed that the branch leadership has maintained continuous engagement with senior officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to address issues affecting teachers.

The unionist further disclosed that the union has successfully facilitated transfers for several teachers and is processing additional requests.

He called on teachers seeking triangular swaps and transfers to counties outside Bomet within the Rift Valley region to submit their requests ahead of his scheduled meeting with the Regional TSC Director on Tuesday.

“We are currently doing work and politics is behind us. Our members require instant services and this is what we are doing,” Kimeto said.

On leadership and representation, the branch has already constituted the Branch Governing Council (BGC) and the Burial and Benevolent Fund (BBF) Committee.

He clarified that the County Technical Welfare Committee (CTWC), also referred to as the County Management Council (CMC), is yet to be established and will ensure representation for all remaining zones and wards across the county.

Kimeto dismissed concerns over representation, explaining that the branch deliberately distributed positions across different areas to ensure inclusivity and fairness.

He assured members that all zones and wards would eventually be represented through the new welfare structure, which is expected to strengthen service delivery and welfare management within the union.

The KUPPET Bomet official thanked members for their continued support and pledged that the branch leadership would remain focused on addressing teachers’ needs.

“Your support is key, and once again may I thank all members for the unwavering support you have accorded us. Together, we shall deliver,” he said.
