Laikipia’s GG Rumuruti dominates zonal games, sets sights on sub-county battle

GG Rumuruti Boys High School in Laikipia County delivered a commanding performance during the Rumuruti zonal secondary school term two games held at its own grounds in Laikipia County, emerging as the standout institution across multiple sporting disciplines.

The host school registered strong results in boys’ football and boys’ volleyball, where they clinched top honours.

GG Rumuruti also asserted its strength in racket sports by dominating boys’ badminton, lawn tennis and table tennis.

In rugby, the school performed competitively, with both GG Rumuruti and Rumuruti Day featuring strongly in the boys’ category, while basketball saw GG Rumuruti progress alongside Mary Mother Secondary School.

In the girls’ contests, FR. Antony Pagani High School proved dominant after securing titles in football, volleyball, and netball.

Rumuruti Day also impressed with victories in girls’ badminton and table tennis, while maintaining a strong presence in rugby competitions.

Speaking after the event, chief principal Sammy Githungu praised the students and coaches for their discipline and teamwork, describing the results as a reflection of consistent preparation and commitment to excellence.

He emphasized that the school’s focus now shifts to the next stages of competition, starting with the sub-county games, followed by county championships, before progressing to the regional level scheduled to be held in Narok.

“We are proud of what our learners have achieved at the zonal level. However, this is just the beginning. Our journey continues through the sub-county, county and regional levels. We must remain disciplined, focused and ready for tougher competition ahead,” said Githungu.

He added that the school aims to build on its strong foundation and ensure continued success as it advances through the competitive ladder toward higher-level championships.
