KNUT wants 30,000 teachers hired

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Eldoret West branch Chairman Kipchumba Arusei has urged the government to employ more teachers for free secondary school education to succeed.
“We want the government to at least to employ 20,000 secondary school teachers and 10,000 primary teachers to bridge this gap. If we are not careful we will have a teacher to student ratio of 1:60,” he added.
He said the current number of teachers is a drop in the ocean and cannot satisfy the increasing number of students.
