It was payback time for 375 students of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Teso Campus when they joined the Malaba town community in a town clean-up and tree planting exercise.
Led by Head of Department Stephen Emai and his Deputy Pascal Papai, the students swept clean the Malaba Central Business District donned in their white aprons.
Emai said the clean-up exercise was in line with the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) considering the efforts by area leadership to put up the campus in addition to the Busia Campus.
“The campus has benefited many students pursuing various courses including Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Community Health, Certificate in Community Health, Diploma in Health Records and Certificate in Health Records,” he said.

Teso North MP Oku Kaunya is the brain behind the construction of the campus through the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) with both phase one and two of the project; and land purchase costing Ksh112 million.
The campus located at Kocholia opposite Kocholia Sub County Hospital in Teso North sub-county was commissioned on January 17, 2023 by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta donated a bus while the Ministry of Health sponsored the construction of a hostel to the tune of Ksh20 million.
