Kisii University has assured parents of the security of their first-year children as they join the institution.

Varsity Registrar Dr. Joash Kerongo said that preparations to accommodate the new students as they start their higher learning journey were already complete.

“We have made sure that those who will not be accommodated in hostels within the campus are in safe hands with landlords who have good rental records,” he said.

Dr. Kerongo asked the new students to carry themselves decently and learn from the current students as they orient themselves to the institution.

He said that the institution had admitted 8,120 students out of the expected 10,000 who had been placed at the institution by the University Board.

The Registrar said that out of those who had reported, 120 are under self-sponsorship while the rest are government-sponsored.

Dr. Kerongo cautioned the new students against bad company to save themselves from indulgence in drug abuse and a hedonistic lifestyle.

Saying that education emancipates people economically, socially and politically, the Registrar asked them to work hard and achieve good grades that will enhance their employability and in turn uplift the living standards of their families.
