Kericho County has announced that all boarding schools within the county will undergo a comprehensive safety compliance assessment within the next ten days, aimed at ensuring that learning institutions meet the required safety standards and provide a secure environment for learners.
The directive follows growing concerns over school unrest reported in various parts of the country, prompting renewed focus on student safety, discipline and institutional preparedness.
Speaking after leading a Heads of Educational Institutions Quality Assurance Meeting, Kericho Governor Dr. Erick Mutai emphasized the need for proactive measures to safeguard learners and strengthen communication between school administrators and students.
He urged school heads to build stronger rapport with learners by engaging them in open and meaningful conversations, noting that dialogue and mentorship are key to preventing unrest and fostering trust within schools.
“We have also urged school administrators to build stronger rapport with learners by talking with them, not to them and by fostering open communication that promotes trust, guidance and mentorship,” the governor said.
