Commissioner Eng. Phillip Okundi led mourners in Homa Bay County over the weekend as the director of Janeiro Group of Schools Mr. James Okiro Akello was laid to rest at his home in Kochia of Rangwe Sub County.
Speaking during the burial ceremony, Okundi eulogized the late to be enthusiastic and devoted educationists who impacted on the lives of many across the nation through provision of quality basic education.
Okundi said Akello served poor families hence he founded an initiative called Friends of Education.
Okundi urged leaders to embrace and follow the footsteps of Akello.
“We as leaders must remain dedicated towards serving our people by ensuring their interests are well represented and articulated. We have lost a great son of Homa Bay who served diligently”, Okundi.
