Kisii County Gubernatorial aspirant Mr. Manson Oyongo has pledged to improve the workplace and living standards of ECDE teachers if elected in the forthcoming August national elections.
Addressing the public at Kenyenya town, Oyongo lamented on the deplorable conditions of ECDE classrooms in the county but promised to use the county’s money to construct modern ones and improve the sector if elected.
“I will create special funds in every ward to cater for the education and feeding of children in ECDE classes,” Oyongo said.
He also underscored the importance of a clean environment on physical and intellectual development of school going children and promised that his government will provide clean piped water to every home and school for daily use.
“Our children should be provided with a clean environment that should include clean water for hand washing among other activities,” he advised.
He revealed that his other development agenda for the county include prioritizing on agriculture for sustainable food production in the county.
“Kisii county is very fertile and if proper attention is given to our agricultural sector, we can be a granary for the whole country,” he added.
Oyongo, who is determined to succeed James Ongwae, will battle it out with Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu and Dagorretti North MP Simba Arati among others.
