A sombre mood has engulfed Nasianda village in Bumula constituency Bungoma County after a 16-year-old girl was electrocuted.
The Monday morning incident saw Tabitha Auma, a class seven pupil at Nasianda Primary school killed after a tree fell on a power line.
According to the family, the girl was helping her brother to cut the tree close to power lines when she was electrocuted after
heavy branches fell on the electricity wires.
Confirming the incident, Bernard Wesebebe the head teacher of Nasianda primary school said the girl was one of the bright pupils in the school. He said residents should contact Kenya power officials whenever they want to cut trees near electric cables.
He urged Kenya power officials to preside over the cutting of tall trees near electrical cables.
Police officers from Bungoma police station removed the body to Bungoma referral hospital mortuary.
