Government releases Ksh. 17.47 billion for schools funding

The Government is impressed by the high turnout of Form one students who started reporting to their secondary schools on Monday, August 2, 2021. With form ones reporting o schools, all learners across different classes and grades  will be back to school for the first time since March 2020 when all schools were closed as containment measures towards the spread of Covid 19.

The government released Kshs 17.47 billion as capitation funding to all learners to ensure uninterrupted learning in all public schools. Kshs 2.62 billion is for primary schools while Kshs 14.85 billion is for secondary schools.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha advised principals to ensure all learners stay in school so that no time is lost during the shortened academic calendar.

He also advised the principals to talk to parents with fee balances to find practical ways of clearing the balances.

 The CS urged principals to strictly adhere to the fees guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Education which were based on the 30 week school calendar.

In the press statement released by the CS, parents and all stakeholders were told to ensure that all Form one students report to their secondary schools in line with the government’s policy of 100 percent transition to secondary schools.
