Governor lauds retiring Mahiga Girls principal

Mahiga Girls Secondary School long- serving Chief Principal Mary Wang’ombe has retired.
The Principal, who has been a mentor to many students and teachers, had served the school for over 18 years.
Speaking during a farewell party Nyeri Governor described the Principal as a committed teacher who did her job diligently. “She took over the little known school which had a mean score of 5.9 and left it when it was at 9.46 mean score making it one of the best schools in the county and nationally,” said the Governor.
Wang’ombe was to retire a decade ago but the Government extended her service due to public demand.
The Governor said the County Government of Nyeri will start a programme at the end of this year to recognize those who have done excellent work for the community.
