FEASSA 2026: Teams battle for basketball 3×3 final berths

  • Kenya’s St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale and Ikutha Girls have both reached the girls’ semi-finals, facing Tanzania’s Msufini and Uganda’s Seroma respectively.
  • St. Mary’s Yala and Agoro Sare have advanced to the boys’ semi-finals, taking on Uganda’s Seroma and Rwanda’s ESB Kamonyi respectively.

The Basketball 3×3 competition at the 2026 FEASSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, will enter a crucial stage on Friday, August 21, with teams from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda fighting for places in the finals.

The semi-finals, scheduled for Match Day 7, promise an exciting morning of action as the remaining teams look to move closer to the coveted regional title.

In the girls’ category, Kenya’s St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale will open the semi-final programme at 10:30 am against Tanzania’s Msufini Secondary School. The Kenyan side will be hoping to use its experience and tournament momentum to overcome the hosts and secure a place in the final.

At 10:50 am, another highly anticipated girls’ semi-final will see Uganda’s Seroma take on Kenya’s Ikutha Girls. Both teams will be targeting a strong performance as they battle for the second ticket to the girls’ final.

The boys’ semi-finals will follow, beginning at 11:10 am when Kenya’s St. Mary’s Yala faces Uganda’s Seroma. The encounter is expected to be closely contested, with both sides seeking to keep their championship ambitions alive.

The final boys’ semi-final will be played at 11:30 am, pitting Rwanda’s ESB Kamonyi against Kenya’s Agoro Sare. Agoro Sare will be looking to carry Kenya’s hopes into the final, but ESB Kamonyi will be determined to secure Rwanda a place in the championship showdown.

With the knockout stage now underway, every possession, basket and defensive play could prove decisive. The 3×3 format demands speed, tactical discipline and quick decision-making, making the semi-finals particularly unpredictable.

The four matches will set the stage for what promises to be an exciting conclusion to the basketball 3×3 competition at the 23rd FEASSA Games in Morogoro.
