Grief and calls for justice have engulfed the family of Martina Chepkemoi after the secondary school teacher was found dead in Kericho town in what police suspect was a case of murder.
Chepkemoi, a Kiswahili teacher at Lalagin Secondary School in Bureti Sub-County, is reported to have sustained stab wounds to the chest, according to preliminary investigations. Her body was taken to the Kericho Hospital mortuary as police began investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

After identifying the body, the family described Chepkemoi as a hardworking and respectful woman and called for a thorough investigation into her death. “We want to know what happened to Martina. We are appealing for a thorough investigation and justice for our daughter,” a family member said.
The family said the deceased was dedicated to her teaching career and was highly regarded by those around her. “She was hardworking and respectful. She did her work diligently and did not deserve to die in such a manner,” the family said.
Police have not disclosed further details on the circumstances of the killing as investigations continue.
