Elgeyo Marakwet County has advertised 100 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Caregiver positions on a three-year contract, opening up new employment opportunities across all sub-counties in the Department of Education and Technical Training.
This comes days after Members of the County Assembly accused the County Public Service Board of delaying recruitment, prompting renewed scrutiny of how the county fills long-standing vacancies in its ECDE centres.
In an external advertisement dated August 20, 2026, the County Public Service Board announced vacancies for 100 ECDE Caregiver posts on a three-year contract. The positions fall under the Department of Education and Technical Training, with a monthly remuneration of KSh18,000.
According to the advert, the Board is inviting applications from qualified, results-oriented and self-motivated Kenyan citizens for appointment to vacant positions in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres across the county.

The vacancies are distributed across all sub-counties, with each ward allocated a number of slots according to their shortages. The majority of the centres listed are those left vacant from the last recruitment drive, while others are newly established stations.
Applicants must have a KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+, a Certificate in ECDE from KNEC/MOE or another recognised institution, with a Diploma Certificate serving as an added advantage. They must also be registered with the Teachers Service Commission, hold a Certificate in Computer Applications and a First Aid Certificate.
Those applying to Iten School for the Deaf must additionally hold a Certificate in Kenya Sign Language Interpretation.
Duties for the role include class teaching, role modelling, guidance and counselling, preparing reports, ensuring the safety and security of learners, organising play learning activities, caring for and nurturing the holistic growth of learners, managing ECDE classes and records, preparing learning materials, and organising community mobilisation on ECDE programmes.

The Board has directed that details of the job requirements and application procedure are available on the official recruitment portal, https://recruitment.elgeyomarakwet.go.ke, with applicants given until September 10 to submit their applications.
