Taita Taveta County resource mobilization team has distributed food donation, facemasks and sanitary towels to parents living with disability in all sub-counties.
Joakim Mwashigadi, who received the donation, said parents living with disability and those living with children with disability are facing numerous challenges in the society especially during this time of Covid-19 pandemic.
He said many have lost their jobs therefore it was a noble idea for the county government to help them with basic needs and urged the government to come up with a framework that will give privileges to the disadvantaged in the society during the pandemic.
Venard Mwabara, who represents persons with disability both in KNUT and the county, noted that parents living with physically challenged children are forced to sacrifice their jobs to look after their well-being.
Bigvai Mwailemi, a committee member of the county resource mobilization team, said they have reached 17,000 families and are still target more in the county. He appealed to well-wishers to give their support to the needy.
He urged parents with children with disability to come out and seek for help.
