Celebrations swept through Bungoma National Polytechnic on Thursday, May 22, as the institution officially launched a brand-new 72-seater Mercedes-Benz bus, marking a significant step towards improving transportation for students and staff.
The launch event, held at the institution’s main campus, was filled with excitement from students, tutors and local leaders. The state-of-the-art bus is ready to serve all institutional functions, including academic trips, sporting events, and outreach programmes.
Speaking during the launch, Chief Principal Dr. Godfrey Murunga praised the new addition and stressed its benefits for the polytechnic’s growing community.

“This is a major boost for our institution,” said Dr. Murunga. “The new bus will enhance convenience and ensure our students can travel safely and efficiently for academic and co-curricular activities.”
With rising enrolment and increased demand for mobility, the Mercedes-Benz bus is seen as a timely and strategic investment. Staff members applauded the development, citing its importance in supporting off-campus learning and strengthening its operational capacity.
The event was graced by members of the Board of Management, student leaders, and community stakeholders, who commended the institution’s commitment to continuous improvement.
