Paul Biwott has trounced the incumbent John Chesergon to become the new Executive Secretary for KUPPET Elgeyo Marakwet branch.
Biwott garnered 731 votes against Chesergon’s 235 in the elections presided over by the National Chairman Omboko Milemba.
Biwott, who has been the branch chairman, won with most of his ‘Team Fresh’ faction.
Mr Chesire won the branch chairmanship with 561 votes against Mr Bett who got 501 votes while Mr Yego took the vice chairman’s post with 346 votes against Mr Wilkis 307 votes.
Others are the Treasurer Mr Chesinya with 771 votes against Seroney who got 290 votes.
Biwott thanked the teachers for overwhelmingly voting in his team, saying his performance as chairman had contributed to his victory.
“Teachers need quality service and I am up to the task,” he said, adding that he would actively support peacemaking efforts in the volatile Kerio Valley.
Milemba, who was the elections coordinator, said teachers had spoken through their votes and asked those who lost to graciously accept the results.
He encouraged the new leaders to serve teachers with diligence.
